❓Regularly asked questions

1. Is academic schooling provided alongside Qur’an memorization classes?

Currently, we do not offer a formal schooling system in Mukhayyam.

2. How frequently are students allowed access to their phones?

Students below the age of 15 are advised not to carry phones, in accordance with the farman mubarak of Aqa Moula (TUS). However, an intercom service is available in maskan through the Cocall app, allowing them to stay in touch with their parents.

For students above 15, phones are provided when necessary, with prior permission from the respective Janabs. Additionally, whenever students go out for meals or any other purpose, they are given phones for safety and communication.

3. What is the expected timeframe for a student to complete Hifz and become a Hafiz?

Our institute is dedicated to supporting students in every possible way, and all our Janab are putting in sincere efforts to guide them through their Hifz journey. For students beginning from the start, the expected timeframe to complete the entire Quran is approximately 1.5 to 2 years. However, this may vary depending on the student’s dedication, consistency in meeting daily Hifz targets, and their commitment to staying focused on their goal.

4. Do you have a USD bank account for international transactions?

At present, we do not hold a USD bank account and operate solely through a KES account. However, we are in the process of arranging for a USD account to facilitate international bank transfers in the future. In the meantime, we have advised parents to make payments in KES, as this option incurs lower transfer charges.

5. What is the standard of living like in the Maskan accommodation, and are all basic necessities provided?

We understand how challenging it is for a child to come so far and stay alone. That’s why all the basic needs of the students are provided at Maskan, ensuring they feel comfortable and relaxed, so they don’t miss their parents during their stay away from home.

6. Is it safe for children to leave the premises while staying in Kenya?

We believe students will find everything they need within Saifee Park, so there is no need for them to go outside. However, if it is necessary, we advise that younger students should never go out alone; they should always be accompanied by a group of older students. Additionally, please note that for security reasons, students are not allowed to go out after 6 PM. If any student leaves without permission, the Mukayyam will not be held responsible for any consequences.

7. In which currencies can students keep their cash in Amanat?

Students are allowed to keep KES and USD funds in Amanat for their personal use, as we advise against carrying large amounts of cash with them or keeping it in Maskan while they are here in Mukhyam.

8. Why isn’t there an in-house currency exchange facility for students within Mukhayyam?

Our institute currently does not offer currency exchange services. However, there is a bank located right next to Saifee Park where students can exchange currency whenever needed.
